Flat Iron Ranch...

Founded in 1998 by owner/trainer
Mark 'Alan' Merlino, the ranch is located
a short drive from Austin in scenic Elgin, Texas.

Mark grew up riding and working with horses
and livestock; taught and encouraged by his grandfather who believed in 'getting them gentle'.

Mark's cutting horse experience was
gained with the industry's finest -
Rubin Pringle, Bob Ayers, and Noi Silva.
He has competed in NCHA and ACHA since 1995

All young horses are started with classic
gentling and cooperative training techniques.
Emphasis is placed on gaining the youngster's
trust and getting them to understand that 'it's
no big deal!'

At Flat Iron, the primary goal is to provide
clients and their horses with a safe, fun,
and relaxed environment in which to learn.
